Beragh v Killyman 11-04-15

KILLYMAN ST MARY’S  0-9 (2-3) – reserves in bracket
Saturday 11th April 2015

Beragh completed a home double over Killyman on Saturday to make the perfect start to the season. The 4.30pm throw-in was delayed after a mix-up over the referee, but it didn’t stop both teams from playing out a good game of football.

There was little between the teams until Johnny Woods managed to put a loose ball into the net from close range on 16 minutes, making it 1-3 to 0-2. From there both sides exchanged points, with Martin Rodgers and Eddie Molloy on the score sheet making it 1-6 to 0-6 at half-time.

Beragh dominated after the break, with much of play taking place in the Killyman half. Martin Rodgers, Eddie Molloy, Johnny Woods and sub Matthew McSorley all registered points. Killyman cut the Red Knights lead to just two points on 42 minutes (1-8 – 0-9), but they didn’t score again, allowing Beragh to pull away, eventually putting seven between the teams.

Overall it was a strong performance all over the field from Beragh, with some fine passages of play throughout, with Ben McSorley and Christopher Devlin in particular entertaining with their surging runs out of defence.
